A prompt and inexpensive way to resolve minor disputes. Legal procedures are held to a minimum and lawyers may not participate. It is limited to civil (non-criminal) actions involving disputes over amounts of money owed, damage to property, or seeking the return of personal property.

Every hour of every day, someone in Nebraska needs essential services--from finding substance abuse assistance to securing adequate care for a child or an aging parent. Faced with a dramatic increase in the number of agencies and help lines, people often don't know where to turn. In many cases, people end up going without these necessary and readily available services because they do not know where to start. 2-1-1 gives Nebraskans two ways to look for services -- search the ne211.org online database and/or dial 2-1-1 (not available in all Nebraska counties at this time).

The Center on Children, Families, and the Law (CCFL) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln was established in 1987 as a home for interdisciplinary research, teaching, and public service on issues related to child and family policy and services. The knowledge of child and family issues generated and synthesized by the Center faculty is widely disseminated to educate policy makers, scholars, service providers, and the general public. Work done by the Center has served as the primary basis for new local, state, and national legislation and has been cited in court rulings, including the U.S.

Nebraska Appleseed focuses on advancing policies and practices that promote self-sufficiency for Nebraska’s working poor families, promote the integration and participation of immigrant populations in communities across Nebraska, provide safe and adequate child welfare services to children who need protection, increase low-income people’s access to the legal system and support democracy by removing barriers to low-income people’s participation in the electoral and public policy decision-making processes.
