Child Support Modification 2nd Session
Access To Justice Pro Se Clinics
Legal Aid of Nebraska offers a number of clinics designed to help people handle their own cases in court. Pro Se means without being represented by an attorney. The clinics usually consist of 2-3 sessions, which are scheduled to coincide with court proceedings. The clinics provide information, instruction, forms and information. Participants are responsible for all of the fees associated with their case. If you cannot afford court fees, we will provide you with forms to submit to ask the court to excuse the fees.
There is a one-time clinic cost of $10.00 for all of the clinics. To qualify for our pro se clinic services you must meet our income guidelines and have no history of domestic violence against another person. In addition, we will have to make sure that Legal Aid does not have a “conflict of interest.”
Access 2 Justice offers clinics in the following areas:
Modification of child support orders to change the amount of child support;
Modification of child support orders to get visitation with your children; and
Establishment of custody, paternity and child support.
Although we do not have clinics for divorce with or without children of the marriage, we have computers with access to the Nebraska Supreme Court’s forms and instructions that provide you with the assistance you will need to handle your case on your own.
To apply for a Pro Se clinic, please come to the Access to Justice Center between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Because you will need to bring materials to each of the clinics, applicants should not expect to join a clinic on the day it is scheduled. Clinics are scheduled when we have enough participants for each clinic.
If you cannot handle a court case by yourself even with instruction, and feel you need an attorney to represent you in court, call our AccessLine® at 402-348-1060.
