Aid for Western Nebraska

By Kristyna Engdahl

The need for low income legal assistance is a growing concern in West Central Nebraska.

Legal Aid Nebraska held a board meeting in North Platte, followed by an open house where the public's concerns were addressed.

Dave Pantos, Exec. Director, Legal Aid Nebraska, says, "Poverty issues facing rural Nebraska are growing, rural Nebraska is aging. There are greater legal needs, and meanwhile the resources being provided to Western Nebraska are  dropping. Legal Aid feels like we need to cut against that trend and say look we are present in Central and Western Nebraska, we're in rural Nebraska and we're providing legal services."

The meeting, which is typically held in Eastern Nebraska, was moved to North Platte in light of local office growth.
